What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They let the site remember things between page loads, like your cookie choices or the fact that you’ve already verified your email for a free audit. Similar technologies include local storage and pixels; this policy covers them too.
Some cookies are set by us (first-party cookies). Others are set by a service we use, such as Google Analytics (third-party cookies).
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay for a set period or until you clear them. This site can use both types.
Strictly necessary cookies
These keep the site working and secure. They remember your cookie consent choice, protect forms against spam and automated abuse, and keep track of your email verification step when you request a free audit. The site can’t work properly without them, so they don’t need your consent. You can still block them in your browser, but some forms may stop working.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to see which pages people visit, how they found us, what device they use and roughly which country or city they’re in. This helps us fix confusing pages and write content people actually want. GA4 doesn’t store full IP addresses.
GA4 sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID. By default they last up to two years. Where the law requires consent, including for visitors in the EU and the UK, these cookies are set only after you accept analytics cookies in our cookie banner. You can change your mind at any time using the cookie settings link in the site footer.
Google processes this data under its own terms and privacy policy. You can also install Google’s opt-out browser add-on to stop GA4 on every site you visit.
Cookies we don’t use
We don’t use advertising or retargeting cookies on this website, and we don’t sell or share data collected through cookies for cross-context behavioral advertising. If we add a new type of cookie in future, we’ll update this policy and ask for consent where required before setting it.
Embedded content
Some pages may include embedded content such as videos or social media posts. The provider of that content may set its own cookies when you interact with it. Where possible, we load embeds only after you click them.
How to control cookies
Use the cookie banner or the cookie settings link in the footer to accept or refuse analytics cookies. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Each browser explains how in its help pages: Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge all let you delete cookies for a single site.
Refusing analytics cookies doesn’t change what you can do on the site. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop the contact form, the newsletter sign-up or the audit request from working.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal of analytics cookies for that browser. California residents can use this signal to opt out of sale or sharing, although we don’t sell or share personal information.
